Patron Saint is an independent Apple TV app. Patron Saint Connect, an iPhone helper, signs you in with Patreon and hands the session across your home network. After that, the television holds the room.
Getting set up
- 1Install Patron Saint on Apple TV and Patron Saint Connect on iPhone.
- 2On the television, choose Connect with iPhone. Scan the code, confirm the matching digits, then sign in with Patreon on iPhone.
- 3Return to Apple TV to browse memberships and play hosted video or audio.
Questions
- How do I connect my account?
- Keep iPhone and Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi. Open Patron Saint on the television and choose Connect with iPhone. In Patron Saint Connect, tap Scan TV, confirm the six digits match, then sign in with your Patreon email and password. The session is encrypted on your home network and stored only on the Apple TV after a successful check.
- Do I need AirPlay?
- No. Hosted video and audio play on Apple TV itself. You do not need to mirror a phone or keep another device in the room.
- Why does setup happen on iPhone?
- Patreon sign-in belongs on a keyboard and a real browser session, not a television remote. Patron Saint Connect signs in on Patreon’s website, then hands only the resulting session to Apple TV. Patron Saint never sees or stores your Patreon password.
- Which memberships appear?
- Patron Saint shows the creator memberships attached to the Patreon account you connect. Posts you are not entitled to stay locked. Hosted video and audio play in the app. YouTube and Vimeo posts from those memberships open in the official YouTube and Vimeo Apple TV apps, including private links Patron Saint can find on the post. Vimeo requires tvOS 18 or later; if the creator set a password, enter it in Vimeo. Other embed players stay with their original service.
- A video or audio post will not play. What should I try?
- If the post is hosted on Patreon, force-quit Patron Saint and open it again. YouTube and Vimeo posts should open those official Apple TV apps; install the matching app if prompted. Vimeo requires tvOS 18 or later; if the creator set a password, enter it in Vimeo. If that fails, reconnect from iPhone, or use Advanced Setup on Apple TV. If a hosted post still fails, write to us with the post title and creator name — never include a password or session value.
- iPhone cannot find Apple TV.
- Use the same Wi-Fi network, keep the pairing screen open on the television, and allow Local Network access for both apps. Camera access is required to scan the code. Generate a fresh code and scan again. If local discovery still fails, Apple TV offers Advanced Setup as a fallback.
- I usually sign in to Patreon with Google, Apple, or Facebook.
- Those provider screens cannot run inside Patron Saint Connect. In a regular browser, sign in to Patreon, open Settings → Account, and add a password. Then use that Patreon email and password in the helper app.
- Do I still need a Patreon membership?
- Yes. Memberships stay on Patreon. Patron Saint is a viewer for posts you already have access to. To join a creator, change a pledge, or manage billing, use Patreon’s website or official app.
